About Birth Bumps
Birth Preparation, approached differently
Birth Bumps was created to make birth preparation more engaging, approachable and human.
We believe preparing for birth should help people feel informed, involved and able to navigate what unfolds—not under pressure to plan the perfect experience.
Birth is individual and unpredictable. It can be prepared for, but it cannot be entirely planned.
What we believe
Birth Bumps does not define what a “good” birth looks like.
There is no single right way to give birth, no perfect way to prepare and no set of choices that will suit everyone. We do not take sides in birth debates or use fear, judgement or promises of a particular outcome.
Instead, we believe in honest preparation: exploring possibilities, asking questions and building a toolkit of knowledge, ideas and support that can adapt as birth unfolds.
Prepare, not predict.
Our Mission
Our mission is to make birth preparation more accessible, practical and personal.
We create thoughtful tools that encourage expectant parents and birth partners to learn and prepare together—turning information into conversations, shared understanding and ideas they can use.
Birth Bumps is designed to complement, not replace, the valuable work of antenatal educators, doulas, midwives and maternity professionals.
Our Values
Individual
Every person, pregnancy and birth is different. We respect individual circumstances, preferences and choices without placing one kind of birth above another.
Honest
Preparation can build understanding and provide useful tools, but it cannot guarantee a particular experience. We will always be honest about that.
Practical
We make information easier to explore, discuss and connect to real choices—so preparation feels useful rather than overwhelming.
Together
We believe expectant parents and birth partners should have opportunities to learn, talk and prepare together.
Founded through experience
Birth Bumps was founded by Jenny, a former NHS midwife and antenatal teacher.
Her experience supporting and teaching parents shaped a clear conviction: people need reliable information, alongside calm, approachable ways to explore it, ask questions and discover what may be useful to them.
Birth Bumps brings professional understanding together with warmth, honesty and humanity—respecting the complexity of birth and the individuality of every family preparing for it.
